There I was, walking alone in the dark. I could see nothing through the pitch black void that surrounded me. I could hear a dripping pipe somewhere nearby, teasing me cruelly. I was surprised I could hear it over the sound of my stomach rumbling, mixed with the violent tune of my thumping heart beating in fear and suspense. It had been days since I’ve seen something even closely resembling a ray of light. I was thirsty, hungry, and it felt like I’ve been walking for hours. I couldn’t trust what was there in the dark, therefore, I couldn’t stay in one place for too long in case something gets me. It’s driving me crazy. The feeling of hearing my own heart over the sound of a dripping pipe is unnerving. I do not like it here. I want to leave. Please, let me leave…
I felt a sharp pain through my foot as I walked, stopping abruptly in the spot I last took a step. I’ve been walking for far too long and I knew that. I knew and I still wouldn’t stop walking as I resumed my stroll through the dark tunnel in which I was trapped.
